MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN

The Institution of Engineers ( India ) was established in 1920 and has over 5,00,000 members on its rolls spread over 15 disciplines of Engineering. The Safety & Quality Forum was set-up by the Institution of Engineers ( India ) in the year 2003 specifically to promote awareness regarding Safety and Quality in the engineering operations.

The Safety & Quality Forum has by now emerged as the most active Forum of the Institution of Engineers ( India ). The Forum organizes a Safety Convention every year and this Convention is considered as one of the most successful annual events of The Institution of Engineers ( India ). The Safety Innovation Awards which are presented during these Safety Conventions are also highly sought after by the industry, both in the Public and the Private Sector.

The Institution of Engineers ( India ) has also instituted Awards for recognizing professional excellence in the manufacturing and service sector in the area of Safety & Quality. These prestigious Awards are conferred annually during the Indian Engineering Congress based on the recommendation of the Safety & Quality Forum.

Apart from continuing the activities which are already in the pipe-line, the special focus of the Forum will be on the conduct of short training programmes, both in the field of Safety and Quality. The aim will be mainly on the skill-building of professionals directly involved in the shop-floor activities.

The Safety & Quality Forum has established a very high image and visibility in a short span of six years due to the dedicated efforts of its Past Chairmen, Shri Pradeep Chaturvedi and Shri O P Goel. I shall endeavour to emulate the standards set by them to maintain the high status and reputation of the Forum.
